(…) Another strategy conducted by artist is the work with urban sensors, monitor temperature, sounds, light, movement, humidity and gps. Also solar panels and LED screen façade are used. Wireless, sensor network and environmental data make the City space become a fabric, a database of sounds and data, sensing the environment. That open source environment visualizations build a Holistic city system where information & data about weather, noise, traffic, are building Datacities, an emergent cities where Big Brother is under control of everything, where movement, sound and data are monitored, stored, analyzed, logged. To archive data, to produce sound streams, to display security systems for saver and healthy conditions of urban live citizens, that is what datacities are doing. Also Electri-city is conducting traffic publicity and information under lighting conditions with software structured in city public places. Datacities are developing as well the Real time visualisation through generative softwares and sensor working with Databases installed in cityspace.
On the other hand, new urban and architectural design is represented by LaN – Live Architecture Network. A network made up of architects, who all met at the IaaC (Institution of advanced architecture of Catalonia). They develop tools in workshops contributing on building the global machine, which tends towards the parameterization of the informal and of the invisible forces that move the world. It also evolves the idea about architecture, developing a version of architectural practice. In these investigations, LaN develop the role in associative design, fabrication, and education infrony of disaster situations, in order to address the manner in which architecture can respond to disasters through informal technologies and digital fabrication. Each LaN project is being coordinated in collaboration among a well-structured network of professionals: cell biologists, tree doctors, neurological scientists.
According to that future media city, it has to be considered the field of artistic film and video related to architecture and urban space; it means to understand the inherent qualities of moving images and its relationship to urban culture. There is a moving images’ influence on urban architecture, altogether with an urban architecture’s relationship to avant-garde film, an intention that is building the city as a source for artistic film and video, a reflections on urban architecture in film and video art as well. Considering the globally expanding urban developments and the increasingly fluid borders between research in architecture and moving images, a cross-disciplinary inquire in the fields of architecture and visual practice.
Concluding, it has to be considered the existing infrastructure of urban screens and media facades sited in public spaces. Artists and media designers screenings are developing Broadcasting Events to connect public audiences virtually and also screening projects based in simultaneity and interaction in Datacities. Urban Activism is Reclaiming the Screens, as an activist approach to opening screens for the urban community. That Screens will be visualising on media facades our Organic Cities, the Public Data projects that uses information from the environments and developing a real-time software programmes for live streaming.
