computer music

SATURDAY 14th MAY

eXperimental electronics  @ new river studios presents:

computer music
– max msp, pure data, ableton live, live coding, open source software –

computer music could be most generally defined as music that involves a computer at any stage of its life cycle.(…) Perhaps less traditional examples of computing stations are provided by mobile phones, personal digital assistants and handheld games consoles, (…) [that] now have embedded microprocessors. (…) The predominant type of music technology for convenience and price is now digital gear, so that even most hardware boxes lurking within our music stores (synthesizers, fx pedals, mixers) turn out to be computational devices with embedded software.

nicolas collins, introduction to computer music, 2009.
