Haunted fieldtrips into the landscapes which fall between lullabies and death chants. Instruments: guitar, bass guitar, pedals, chanting, rain, processed electronics, record hiss, field recordings, unnamed VHS coming of age movie (1984). Visuals: moss and liverworts in Ludchurch chasm. (This stone chasm is a legendary site where several dead souls are commemorated.) Dr. Amy Cutler is a geographer, musician and filmmaker who makes B-movies for humans and nonhumans. Her next tape release is the end (also ends) of (the) earth and variants (Crow Versus Crow, 2020). www.amycutler.net

Isn’tses & raxil4
Forest
Sound artists Isn’tses + raxil4 are in collaboration at Epping Forest to explore the nature of arboreal electronics. A get together in the woods in a Bare Glitch Project. On a fallen tree, a log of epic proportions, the three members Lisa McKendrick, Tim Drage and Andrew Page amalgamate their battery operated, circuit bent, self made instruments. From inside the tree can be felt the vibrations of unpredictable sounds in chaotic unison. From afar passers-by wonder if there is alien activity in the woods.

ommatidia
live audiovisual
by mathr & netz
The fly vision algorithm is based obviously on the eyes of flies: “A compound eye is a visual organ found in arthropods such as insects and crustaceans. It may consist of thousands of ommatidia, which are tiny independent photoreception units that consist of a cornea, lens, and photoreceptor cells which distinguish brightness and color.” The visualization code takes an image from a single lens webcam, and processes it to emulate the ommatidia. Arranged in a hexagonal grid, which is an optimal packing reached by evolution, each cell has a wide angle, with overlapping edges repeating parts of the image and enhancing the drama of moving objects. The colour of the cells are modified according to the volume levels of three frequency bands of audio (bass, mids, treble). Over time the size of the cells are modulated, zooming disconcertingly.
